Baseball Finishes 3rd in PCC

Junior Jack Gross hit a base-clearing triple in the top of the 7th inning to propel the Eagles past Santa Rosa Christian Academy in the consolation game during the PCC Final Four baseball tournament.  Going into the 7th inning, the score had remained 2 – 2 with both teams battling at the plate.  Ben Glodfelter pitched 3 innings giving up 2 unearned runs and striking out 6.  Jacob Kelly came in to pitch in the 4th inning in relief.  He struck out 7 and gave up 1 unearned run in the 7th.

The Eagles loss to Emmanual Christian on Friday put them in the consolation game against Santa Rosa. Ed Dominey dominated at the plate during the Final Four tournament batting .750 and walking 3 times.  Saturday’s matchup was the Eagles’ last game.  The spring banquet to celebrate the season is to be held on Thursday, May 10th.

Eagles Baseball Advances to PCC Final Four

The Eagles baseball team fell short on Saturday afternoon losing the West Region Championship Game.  The team still advances to the PCC Final Four tournament to be held Friday and Saturday (May 4th and 5th) in Dothan, AL.  The Eagles will play Emmanual Christian School at 4 p.m. on Friday.

The Eagles are now 6 – 4 on the season, an accomplishment beyond expectations.  With only two returning starters, many new players, including home-schoolers Ben Glodfelter and John Mobley, stepped up to the plate.  Going into Saturday’s game, Glodfelter, Mobley and Chris Wood, another newcomer, were all batting over .300.  Wood is the only senior on the team, so expectations for next year are already running high.

Following the game, Glodfelter and sophomore Jacob Kelly each received all-conference awards just after the team accepted the West Conference Runner-up trophy.
