Missions Mission
Team History Mrs. Janene Dyster, Mission Team Coordinator Nothing builds a child’s faith, solidifies his convictions, develops his leadership potential, expands his view of God and His love, and cultivates a deeper appreciation for home and the USA more than mission trips! 2006 - Costa Rica
It is impossible to make others comprehend the feeling on your heart when you experience God’s hand working right in front of your awestruck eyes. The feeling we had not wanting to blink in fear of missing one of God’s great miracles. The seeds which the Lord had planted the first year had grown in to great trees. The children we had been with last year were now in leadership positions over other children. They were not only helping lead other children, but they were also helping Mark and Meg, the missionaries we work with in Costa Rica, in every way possible. Some of the kids these young leaders were working with were several years older than the leaders, yet they still looked up to them. God is truly in this place, and I had never found such great peace with God until I returned to the small suburbs of San Jose Costa Rica. The children love you when they first meet you. Just simply letting a child ride on your back brings him incomprehensible joy. Most of us plan on returning to Costa Rica again next year, and we would love some new faces to join us. - Andrew Grove, Class of 2007 2005 - Costa Rica For most of us, this trip to Costa Rica was life changing to say the least. The first day out on the mission field was confusing. Not only had we never practiced our Spanish in a fluent environment, but it was our first time fully engulfed in God’s work. The people that we witnessed to were some of the happiest and most content people we had ever and will ever meet. Words cannot describe the feeling to be in the complete presence of the Lord and His works. Even though these families, most of which had more than five people, lived in shacks smaller than the size of one of our average bedrooms, they would offer you complete hospitality. It was the first time I had seen the eyes of Christ, and I saw them in the eyes of the children. We later learned that most of these children went home to abusive families and homes without a father. We learned to appreciate what we have been blessed with in the United States and to realize that everything we have, we have because of Jesus Christ. Everything the Lord did on our first trip to the amazing country of Costa Rica was all to set the stage for our return the following year. I strongly encourage all who read this to go on a mission trip so that you too can watch the God at work. - Andrew Grove, Class of 2007 2002 - Panama2002 - Cuba 2001
